DESCRIPTION:Dr. William Foege, who led the strategy that eradicated smallpox, will talk about what that effort can teach us today. He will also discuss his book, "House on Fire: The Fight to Eradicate Smallpox". (The book will be available for sale and Dr. Foege will conduct a book signing following his lecture). Dr. Foege recently won the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor that the USA confers. He is an alum of UW Medicine, an affiliate professor in the School of Public Health's Department of Epidemiology, and a fellow at the Bill &amp; Melinda Gates Foundation. The UW building in which he will lecture is named after him.\n
